"The Chevy Volt may be grabbing headlines, but high fule efficiency doesn't require expensive electric hardware. Take the $18,995MSRP Cruze Eco, which uses a combination of aerodynamic tweaks (for instance, automatic shutters close the grille to reduce drag), powertrain mods and lighter components to boost mileage deep into the 40s. The EPA rates the Eco at 42mpg highway, but on a 125-mile trek between L.A. and San Diego, the car's computer said we averaged 48.6mpg. No doubt the standard six-speed manual gearbox's tall gearing played a role. There's little penalty for this efficiency - the engine pulls adequately, the car feels solid and refined, and it even rides better than Cruzes wearing 18-inch tires. A Bittersweet Lemon
    "At one time or another, most of us shop for a new automobile. We research and review and compare the good and the bad. I would like to state an experience that I would hope never happens again. We purchased a new van from a local dealer and, like most, expected free sailing with no problems for a few years to come. Our luck was not to be. After five service reports and 34 days out of service with the problem still not fixed, our nightmare began. The dealership was not willing to work with us and kept an open-ended service report. We contacted the manufacturer, but to no avail. It wasn't until we filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau that we had resolution. I would like to tell everyone of you, if you buy an automobile new,Keep your own service records. Keep dats, times, and who you spoke to. You may need the information someday. Don't think this won't happen to you. There is a lemon law for a reason.
    I must say we settled through another dealership. We found the people at Fairfield to be wonderful.
    They took us on as a customer to fix a situation another dealership could not. We purchased a new automobile through them with a buy-back from the manufacturer on ours. The paperwork and phone calls were enormous. Thanks to Matt Orso and Denny Spotts for helping us through this ordeal. I hope we never need to take this road again. But, for all of you out there looking to purchase an automobile, keep these guys in mind.
